Slumbertown Waltz:
When I place my head down a night I usually have no difficulty drifting off to sleep. I lead a fairly simple and straightforward lifestyle unlike many who have a hundred thoughts and concerns sifting through their head as they endeavour to go to sleep. I pondered the nature of an internal dialogue (a prayer to self of sorts)that could calm the mind and lead to a good night's sleep. I imagined it expanded to a life philosophy and potentially one's final prayer before the "big sleep.". James Avery
SLUMBERTOWN WALTZ

Fortune’s favor behind me
Wisdom at my side
Faith to heal beyond what’s real
Satisfies my mind

I’m thankful for my memories
But keep my conscience at bay
Lay me down in Slumbertown
And I’ll just drift away

I pray for calmness around me
Lift me up from the fray
Let silence rule and serve to sooth
As I dream away

I’m thankful for my memories
But keep my conscience at bay
Lay me down in Slumbertown
And I’ll just drift away

Cast your sentence upon me
Penitence all’s been paid
So watch my soul as I’m sleeping
As I dream away
Lay me down in Slumbertown
That I might drift away

May beauty and love surround me
And friendly faces abound
Place others above me
Humble me to this ground

I’m thankful for my memories
But keep my conscience away
Lay me down in Slumbertown
And I’ll just drift away
Lay me down in Slumbertown
That I might drift away.
