The melody for this song originated from a personal time of emotional challenge which makes this piece far more personal than most of my songs. I resisted connecting with the emotion behind this song for many years. One day in 2009 the melody came back to me and the lyrics flowed. It turns out it was a song of hope waiting to be written. The flute in the background is a perfect sonic representation of this hope ("the light that shines through the din"). James
I GET LONELY TOO Lyrics: 3/9/08

Broken inside, hell bent I cried
tears salty tears
To feel the pain, the sorrow, disdain,
the lies, the years

But through it all, a light though small
shone on through the din
To ease the pain of life’s refrain
I pray it comes again
For it’s true, like you
I’ve been lonely too

So blame to the world, a life yet unfurled
I wait for love to call
But love comes not to hearts still blocked
By wounds forbidden walls

Yet through it all, a light though small
Shone on through the din
To ease the pain of life’s refrain
I pray it comes again
And it’s true, like you
I get lonely too

What world exists beyond these mists
Where thoughts run free and wild
Where fears subside and pride derides
And love is but a child

So in this haze of trap and maze
A light shines through the din
That hope may dwell to lift and tell
The fear has dropped the reins
And it’s true, like you
I get lonely too,
It’s true, like you
I am lonely too
